About
The Martin-Matte Foundation is named after me, but it’s not for me.
In 2007, I created the Martin-Matte Foundation to help people living with a head injury or a physical impairment.
I did it because my brother, Christian Matte, has been living with a head injury since he had a car accident at age 17. He never regained his independence. For over 20 years, my family and I looked for a place for him because his injury was so serious. Since 2008, Christian has been living in the first Maison Martin-Matte.
I hope that as many people and companies as possible will join me in this adventure. Not because I’m a well-known comedian, who is intelligent, a deep thinker, charismatic, funny, generous, handsome, and well built, but to offer quality of life to people who desperately need it.
Thank you!

CHRISTIAN’S STORY, BUT THE FUNNY VERSION
What guides the Foundation
The Martin-Matte Foundation is the only foundation that helps victims of head injuries in Québec. When it was created, that meant building the first houses adapted to their needs. Over the years, the Foundation has expanded its mission to have an impact on the general well-being of people living with a head injury and, by extension, a physical disability.
Today, our mission is broader: to offer a better quality of life to children and adults living with a head injury or a physical impairment – whatever it takes.

Awareness raising
I have lived in a total of 16 houses and residences in 21 years. Now my life has changed.”
“I am the most handsome man with a head injury…”
I would like to share the road I have travelled since August 10, 1986. I have lived in a total of 16 houses and residences in 21 years… I felt rejected by society; that was the hardest thing. My family was relieved to finally see me in a place where I felt good and that was adapted to my needs. My life has changed… I have made new friends. I enjoy activities that help me relax and explore who I am. I’m working on myself to create my own happiness, and I’m the only one who can do that, but here I feel like I have been given the chance to do that.
