The Site takes every precaution to ensure the protection of information. When the user provides confidential information through the Site, this information is protected both on the Site and outside the Web.

In an effort to protect confidential information (such as credit card numbers), our registration forms use the best encryption software in the industry, i.e. SSL protocol (Secure Sockets Layer). All information about our users, and not just the abovementioned confidential information, is kept in our offices and does not leave that location. To offer its services, the Site must collect certain personal information in creating an activities, team, or participant page. In general, we collect personal information (that may include the first and last names, age group, home address or other physical address, email address, phone number, credit card information) only when it is sent voluntarily.

Your online transactions are secure on the Site. Personal information is sent in the form of an electronic message using encryption technology that guarantees the confidentiality of information contained therein. As a result, this message cannot be intercepted, altered, or decoded by an intermediary. The Site complies with SSL secure transmission standards, which means that your transaction will always be sent securely. Furthermore, your payment is made directly with Moneris. The Site does not retain any information about any credit card transaction. This is why you must submit your credit card information for each new transaction.

The Martin-Matte Foundation may use the information collected from visitors to the Site for the following purposes: 1) to make internal revisions to the Site (e.g. to determine the number of visitors); 2) to help the Martin-Matte Foundation better understand the use of the site by visitors; 3) to respond to specific requests from visitors; and 4) to protect the security or integrity of the Site. For its part, the Site will retain the personal information for as long as it is useful for the purposes of transactions and activities of the Site or as prescribed by law, after which it will be destroyed.

Non-personal information about Site visits is saved according to the operating norms of Internet servers that host the Site. This information that the Martin-Matte Foundation collects may include the type of operating system used (Mac or Windows) and the type of browser used by the visitor, and it is used to analyze visitor traffic and the frequency of visits to the Site. Upon each visit to the Site, that same non-personal information is collected through small text files known as cookies. A cookie contains user data that is stored on their hard drive. Cookies do not enable in any way the identification of the user when they are on the Site. The Site uses cookies to improve navigation on the Site and track visitor behaviour. The visitor can browse the Site as they wish even if they block cookies. The only drawback is that they will not have access to all sections of the Site.

We use IP addresses to analyze trends, manage the Site, track the visitor movements, and collect socio-economic data for general use. IP addresses do not enable the identification of any individual and is used solely for the purposes of managing the Site. We also share certain socio-economic data with our partners. This information does not enable an individual to be identified.

This Site contains links to other sites. In visiting the Site, you recognize and accept the practices described in this privacy policy. If any of the sites operated by third parties, and available through this Site, has privacy practices that differ from those of the Site, the personal information protection practices of the third parties will take precedence over the collection and use of the information you provide when you visit this Site. Our Site occasionally collects information about users through contests. The user is entirely free to participate in these contests and can therefore choose whether to disclose their personal information. The information requested can include the name, address, phone number, email, etc. The user’s name and address will be used to notify winners and distribute prizes. We send all new members a welcome email to confirm their registration. Members who are already registered and have indicated that they want to occasionally receive information about the Martin-Matte Foundation. When we ask our users for personal information, they are advised if this information is used for reasons other than those directly connected to our Site. Users who no longer wish to receive information from the Martin-Matte Foundation may remove themselves from the mailing list by clicking “Unsubscribe from our newsletter.”

While clients have assured the Site of the accuracy of the information provided, and the Site has taken reasonable measures to ensure that the information presented is accurate, the Site cannot be held responsible for typographical errors or accuracy regarding organizations, activities, and registered participants.

 While we make every effort to ensure the privacy of the information, we may need to disclose personal information as required by law if we believe in good faith that this disclosure is necessary as part of a legal proceeding, a court order, or recourse against our Site.
