Maison Martin-Matte Laval
In May 2008, just one year after the creation of the Martin-Matte Foundation, the first adapted housing resource for people living with a head injury or a physical impairment opened its doors in Québec. This house, which accommodates 15 residents and has a wing for residents who have suffered a severe head injury and who need constant supervision, was built in partnership with the Fondation Le Pilier, which manages it.
Maison Martin-Matte Laval
This first house, located in the neighbourhood of Auteuil, is the result of the diligent efforts of the Fondation Le Pilier, working in close cooperation with the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital in Laval and the Martin-Matte Foundation. It was developed in two phases: a first construction phase in 2008, which created 11 places, followed by a second expansion phase in 2018, which added four more places. This resource, which is served by the CISSSS de Laval, offers a warm, safe home and meets the needs of 15 adults living with a head injury or a physical disability. There is also a wing for people who have suffered a severe brain injury and who require constant supervision. This is the house where Christian, Martin Matte’s brother who suffered a severe head injury at age 17 in a serious car accident, found a place where he could lead his adult life in an environment suited to his needs.
