Project Maison Martin-Matte St-Remi

The organization Vents d'espoir is heading up an ambitious project with determination and perseverance: developing a large multifunctional complex in Montérégie West, which will include a Maison Martin-Matte with space for 32 people living with a head injury or a physical disability.

“Vents d’espoir in the St. Lawrence Valley is the result of a dream: the dream to restore hope and better quality of life to people from our region with a head injury or a motor impairment, so they can thrive and live with dignity.”

Project Maison Martin-Matte Saint-Rémi

With solid roots in the community, this local project involves the creation of 32 housing units with adapted services, available occasionally or on an ongoing basis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every apartment will be designed to meet the needs of residents living with a head injury or physical impairment, offering them a safe, welcoming environment, conducive to independence and social integration.

On April 30, 2022, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de la Montérégie-Ouest also announced a recurring commitment of $1.5 million for the multifunctional complex. It will provide the funding for care and services for residents.

On top of two additional temporary respite beds, in creating this complex, the organization hopes to enhance the lives of future residents with shared living areas and a support group for families.

Finally, the unique complex would include an activities centre with a therapy pool, an adapted training room, and a day centre with arts activities and workshops. It is designed to put smiles on the faces of residents, who will live in a stimulating environment that fosters maintaining their independence.
